By 1969, he had earned the title of professor of zoology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1993, Suzuki took on the role of adjunct professor of sustainable development at the University of British Columbia, where he continued his academic pursuits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Research_Interests\"><\/span>Research Interests<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">David Suzuki\u2019s groundbreaking research during 1969\u20131962 earned him a prestigious fellowship typically awarded to outstanding researchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His studies focused on analyzing temperature-sensitive mutations in <em>Drosophila<\/em> (fruit flies). Suzuki\u2019s primary research area was meiosis\u2014the division process in living cells. He was also deeply interested in mutations caused by temperature changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Television_Career\"><\/span>Television Career<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Suzuki gained international fame when he began hosting the science series <em>The Nature of Things<\/em>, produced by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The program was broadcast in 50 countries worldwide.
