After graduating school in 1977, he became a student at the University of Washington. Michael got a bachelor’s degree in 1961.

In 1985, Barratt received a M.D. from Northwestern University. There, he began his internship specializing in internal medicine. This period lasted until 1988.

He spent his Chief Residency year at Veterans Hospital.

From 1989 to 1991, Michael studied aerospace medicine at Wright State University.

Space medicine

Michael’s career at NASA began in May 1991. He worked шт the department that dealt with life support, developing pressure and ventilation subsystems.

July 1992 marked a new turn in Barratt’s career.

Then he became a surgeon in the flight medical support department.

In the summer of 1993, Michael was one of the witnesses of the return of the Soyuz TM-16 spacecraft.

In 1994, he joined a training programme at the astronaut training centre.

From 1995 to 1998, Michael headed the medical support department of the International Space Station. He also developed requirements and standards for medical equipment.

In July 1998, Barratt took up the position of surgeon for ISS Expedition 1.

True passion

Michael was so captivated by aeronautics that he decided to become an amateur pilot and even got a private license.

On July 26, 2000, Michael was enrolled in Astronaut Group 18. You just need to approach this issue comprehensively and plan your time correctly. Barratt’s story shows us that a hobby can become a profession and the belief that it’s impossible to engage in several types of activity is just a stereotype.

We live in a time when stereotypes are unnecessary components of human life. Therefore, it is important to get rid of them, even if it’s very difficult to do.

After all, whoever you are, an astronaut or a doctor, you have the right to be absolutely happy. Career success is the best way to achieve harmony and satisfaction from life.

Vancouver is an interesting and multifaceted city.
