A general practice with a jaw surgeon among its owners

Most clinics hand the hard surgical cases to somebody else. Here one of the four owner-dentists is Dr. Ali Sadeghi, a certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who heads dentistry and oral and maxillofacial surgery at Lions Gate Hospital and teaches as an assistant clinical professor at UBC: facial fractures, orthognathic jaw surgery, bone grafting and jaw-joint disorders are his ground. Beside the general dentists sits Dr. Neda Mousavi, a board-certified endodontist trained at Columbia. The practice has worked this part of Vancouver for three decades.

Treatments

Exams and hygiene, tooth-coloured fillings, inlays and onlays, crowns, bridges, root canals and extractions. Missing teeth are replaced with implants or dentures. Cosmetic work covers whitening, porcelain veneers and bonding; orthodontics runs through Invisalign, and the clinic holds an Invisalign Gold Provider award for 2026. Night guards are made for people who clench, and emergencies are taken the same day, weekends included.

Two things the rest of the list does not do

Cold sores are treated with a dental laser at any stage of an outbreak, in one appointment — a rare line on a general dentistry menu. And every June the whole team works a day and gives away what it earns to charities named by its own staff and patients.

The dentists

Eleven of them, out of six schools on three continents. Dr. Arv Sooch, the senior owner, qualified at UBC in 2000 and went on through the Pankey Institute, the Misch Implant Institute and the Kois Center. Dr. Ashlee Muise took her doctorate at Dalhousie and served eight years as a dental officer in the Canadian Forces, practising in British Columbia, the Northwest Territories and Ontario. Dr. Arthur Lau has been here since 2011 and is the name long-standing patients ask for; Dr. Anoop Gill graduated in the top tenth of her University of Washington class.

Anyone told they need jaw surgery, a difficult extraction or an implant, who would rather not start again with a stranger. People whose root canal has already been redone once. Families wanting one clinic for everybody.

Do I need a referral for surgery? No — the maxillofacial surgeon co-owns the practice.
